OpenCart Subcategory Images

In a catalog with multiple levels of nesting, a category page often looks dry: the customer sees only the names of the subcategories and doesn't immediately understand where to go next. The content manager has to create additional banners or manually design the navigation.

Once installed, subcategories appear on the section page as neat tiles with images. The image is taken from the standard category card, so a separate settings screen is not required: simply fill in the categories as you already do in OpenCart.

• Images for subcategories appear directly in the section refinement list.
• The title remains clickable.
• Multi-column tiles work well for the top level of a catalog and large sections.
• If the store enables displaying the quantity of products, the number is displayed next to the category name.
• There is no separate manual design - already uploaded category images are used.
• The transition to a subcategory works through a regular link to the desired section.

The buyer sees not just a text list, but short visual cues: for example, in the "Clothing" section, "Jackets," "T-shirts," and "Shoes" will be listed side by side with thumbnails. If a subcategory doesn't have its own image, a standard placeholder is shown instead.
