Multi-currency products in OpenCart

The Multi-Currency Products module for OpenCart solves a common problem for stores purchasing internationally: each product can now be stored in its own currency, and the price can be displayed to customers in the store's currency—correctly and automatically.

Why is it needed?

If suppliers set prices in USD/EUR, but the storefront operates in UAH/USD/KZT, manual conversion becomes routine and error-prone. This module adds the product's native currency and performs on-the-fly conversion in all key areas of the catalog and shopping cart.

What does the module do?

• Addsthe currency_id field (product currency ID) to the product table.
• Adds a currency selection option next to the price field in the admin panel.
• Converts price, promotion, discounts, and option prices into the store currency when displayed on the storefront.
• Supports work with Journal3 (product model refinements).

What data does it work with?

1. Price of goods ( price )
2. Special price/promotion ( special )
3. Quantity discounts
4. Option price

Important: If no currency is selected for a product, the module will automatically use the store's default currency.

Example of application

You purchase electronics in USD and sell them in UAH. You set the price and the USD currency on the product page, and the buyer always sees the amount in UAH, calculated using the store's current exchange rates.
