After moving a category, removing a promotion, or changing friendly URLs, old links often remain in search results, emails, and customer bookmarks. The Redirect and Error Manager allows you to set the correct server response for such addresses directly from the OpenCart admin panel.

Redirects after changing page URLs

The module is essential for managing old URLs properly. The administrator simply adds a rule, selects the match type, sets the response code, and specifies the new address. The customer is automatically routed to the correct page, and search engine bots receive a clear HTTP status without any manual file editing.

Rules for URLs and response codes

• Checking by OpenCart route, for example: route=common/home.
• Partial address match: the rule triggers if the URL contains a specific fragment.
• Support for absolute URLs, such as https://example.com/page.
• Support for relative paths, for example: /old-category.
• GET and POST parameter validation for advanced redirection scenarios.
• Error codes 400, 401, 403, 404, and 410 can be assigned without redirecting to another URL.

For SEO purposes, a 301 redirect is most commonly used for permanent moves, while a 410 code is preferred for permanently deleted pages with no replacement.

• Match type for each separate rule.
