Social Media Widget for OpenCart

The social media widget is a neat "contact button" for OpenCart, always within reach of your customers. Simply click the main circular switch, and a set of icons appears on the website, offering the necessary communication channels: from instant messaging to phone calls and emails. Ideal for reducing the customer's journey from a question, request, or purchase to a single click.

Purpose of the module

The module adds a floating contact widget to the storefront, which is automatically displayed in the site's footer (via an OpenCart event) and functions as a "quick contact bar." You decide which buttons to display and which to disable, and set the basic display parameters.

Communication channels that are supported

The widget can combine multiple ways to contact you in one place. List of supported buttons:

• Telegram (username)
• WhatsApp (phone number in international format without the "+")
• Skype (login/account)
• Viber (phone number)
• Facebook Messenger (ID or page name)
• Line (ID)
• Instagram (profile name)
• Telephone (link tel: )
• Email ( mailto: link)

How it works on the website

A widget block with the main activator appears on the showcase. Clicking the icon causes available buttons to smoothly appear. A link of the required format is automatically generated for each button (for example, https://t.me/username or mailto:email@domain.com ).

Smart nuances for mobile devices

The module uses device detection (Mobile Detect) to make the behavior as convenient as possible:

• On desktop, links open with target="_blank" so as not to take the visitor away from the page;
• For Instagram on Android/iOS, "deep" links are generated that attempt to open a profile directly in the app;
• For Viber, the specifics of the number format on PC and iOS are taken into account (a “+” is added if necessary).

Important: If you enable the button (status ON), be sure to fill in the corresponding field. The admin panel has built-in data validation: for phone numbers, only numbers and an appropriate length are allowed; for logins/IDs, a check for completeness and a character limit is required.

Recommendations for setting up

• Don't turn on all channels at once: leave 3-5 of the most popular ones, this will make the selection faster.
• For WhatsApp/Viber/Phone, use the international format without spaces and without “+” (as suggested in the settings).
• Match the color of the main button to the accent color of your template - the widget will be noticeable, but in line with the style of the site.
• If your audience is mobile, be sure to activate Instagram/messengers: deep links help open apps directly.
