Selecting the Best Discount Between Coupon and Sale in the Cart

The OpenCart module automatically selects the best discount for the customer by comparing coupons and promotions. Now the cart always displays the maximum discount, and the customer is notified if the coupon doesn't provide an additional discount.

Main characteristics

• Automatic discount comparison

  • For each product, the system compares the discount from the promotion and the coupon.
  • For example, if a product costs 100 UAH, the promotion provides a 10% discount (total 90 UAH), and the coupon provides 15% - the coupon is applied, the final price is 85 UAH.

• Supports all types of coupons

  • Percentage and fixed coupons are calculated based on the base price of the product, not on the price already reduced by the promotion.
  • For example, an item is priced at 200 UAH, has a 20% discount (160 UAH) on sale, and a coupon for a fixed discount of 30 UAH. The final discount will be the greater of the two, namely 160 UAH with the discount, not 170 UAH with the coupon.

• Transparency for the client

  • If the coupon does not provide a benefit, a warning is displayed: "The coupon does not apply because the discount on the promotion is greater than or equal to."

The module saves time and improves convenience: the buyer always sees the best deal, and the store maintains accurate records of discounts and taxes.
