The "Price for Customer Groups" module is a simple and highly practical tool for OpenCart that automatically adjusts product prices based on customer groups. It's perfect for wholesale and retail customers, VIP clients, partners, and company employees—when you need to display a higher or lower price for one customer, but don't want to manually edit prices for hundreds of products.

What does the module do?

Once installed, the module intervenes in price calculations in two key places: on the product page (receiving product data) and in the shopping cart. As a result, the buyer sees their own price, while you manage the rules at the category and manufacturer level.

What data and rules are supported?

• Customer groups - the module defines the group of the authorized client or takes the default group for the guest.
• Categories - you can set an adjustment for a specific category or use a basic rule for all categories ( category_id = 0 ).
• Manufacturers - separate rules for brands (manufacturer).
• Adjustment type:
  • % - markup/discount in percent
  • store currency - a fixed amount in foreign currency

Main functions

• Automatic recalculation of the product price for the current buyer group.
• Recalculation of the "promotional price" (special) - if the product has a special price, it is also adjusted according to the group rules.
• Use in the basket - the total in the basket does not shift and corresponds to what is shown in the catalog.
• Selecting the best (minimum) rule between category and manufacturer (when the type is the same) - the module selects the more advantageous adjustment.
• Convenient settings table in the admin panel:
  • Categories tab - adjustments by category
  • Manufacturers tab - brand adjustments

Important: The module includes a "Change price in database" feature for categories. This feature actually updates product prices in bulk in the product table, and this action cannot be undone. It is recommended to back up your database before using it.

Here are some typical scenarios where the module is particularly useful:

1. Wholesalers: For the "Wholesale" group, set -15% on the base price of categories, and the wholesaler will immediately see their prices in all sections.
2. VIP clients: offer a discount on a specific brand, for example -10% on a brand that is frequently purchased by regular customers.
3. Shortage Markup: For a retail group, add a fixed amount, such as +200 in foreign currency, for items from a specific manufacturer.

• Start with a basic rule for categories (the line "Base price of categories") - this is a good "foundation".
• Next, add specific rules for individual categories/brands where a special policy is needed.
• If you use mass price changes in the database, first test on a small category and be sure to keep a backup.
